Oral Health in 2023

National Dentist’s Day is March 6, 2023. Did you know that oral health affects your teeth and the rest of your body? Oral health can affect other parts of our body like the digestive and respiratory tracts and the bacteria can cause diseases. Poor dental health can have serious consequences including pain, disabling, and costly health conditions.

Some health conditions that have been linked to bad oral health are excess decay, tooth loss, gum disease, diabetes, Alzheimer, heart disease, stroke, and cancer (for smokers who have bad oral health).

Here are some ways to stay on top of good oral hygiene:

1. Brush 2 times a day or more

2. Floss 1-2 times a day

3. Use a mouth wash at least 1x a day

4. See your dentist every 6 months for checkup and cleanings

5. Take care of any needed follow-up dental work needed like fillings,

crowns, root canals, etc.
