Hydrate in the Heat!
It is always important to stay hydrated but it is especially important in the heat of the summer! Whether working or playing - make sure you are hydrated around the clock!
A good rule of thumb is to drink half your weight in ounces of water every day. For example, if you weigh 200 pounds then you should be drinking about 100 ounces of water daily!
Tips for staying hydrated:
Water is essential for your overall well being; drink non-water drinks in moderation
Keep a bottle of water with you during the day
To reduce costs and increase sustainability - use a reusable water bottle
If you don’t like the taste of plain water, try adding a slice of lemon or lime to your drink
Drink water before, during, and after a workout
When you’re feeling hungry, drink water
Thirst is often confused with hunger - true hunger will not be satisfied by drinking water
Drinking water may also contribute to a healthy weight-loss plan since drinking water can help make you feel full
If you have trouble remembering to drink water, drink on a schedule
Drink water when you wake up, at breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and before bed or drink a small glass of water at the beginning of each hour
Drink water when you go to out to eat! It will keep you hydrated (and it’s free!)
Keep an eye out for dehydration, any of the following can be a symptom:
Little or no urine
Urine that is darker than usual
Sleepiness or fatigue
Headache or confusion
Dizziness or lightheadedness
